Vidya Balan took home the Best Actor (Female) trophy for Tumhari Sulu at the 63rd Filmfare Awards.

Alia Bhatt - Badrinath Ki Dulhania

Alia Bhatt’s performance has been lauded in this film which addresses dowry practices in the country that exist even today. Even while Varun Dhawan’s near-stalking has been criticised, Alia’s performance has stood out.

Bhumi Pednekar - Shubh Mangal Saavdhan

Bhumi Pednekar has delivered two great performances in 2017. One was for her role in Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and the other was for Shubh Mangal Saavdhan. Pednekar has been nominated for the latter. Catch the promo here:

Saba Qamar - Hindi Medium

Pakistani actor, Saba Qamar has some great performances in her kitty. What with the actor having played a variety of roles in television series in her home country. So it’s hardly surprising that she’s been nominated. Qamar’s performance is totally on-point!

Sridevi - Mom

Sridevi’s role in Indian thriller Mom won a lot of praise from critics and audience alike. It’s a only fitting that Sridevi’s 300th film give her this nomination. Catch the promo here:

Vidya Balan - Tumhari Sulu

Vidya Balan’s sexy Sulu worked wonders for the audience. The actor admits that it was liberating to play the role which was part comedy. Vidya has won five Filmfare Awards in total: Best Female Debut for Parineeta (2005), Best Actress for Paa (2009), The Dirty Picture (2011), and Kahaani (2012) and Critics Award for Best Actress for Ishqiya (2010). Will she win it again?

Zaira Wasim - Secret Superstar

Zaira Wasim played the role of young Geeta Phogat in Dangal and won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2016. Will the 17-year-old win the award for Best Actor at Filmfare this year for her performance in Secret Superstar?
