After filing his Lok Sabha nomination papers in Varanasi on 14 April 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “Neither have I been sent, nor have I arrived. I’m here because Maa Ganga called me.”

He fought from the seat as Ganga Maa ka beta and made several promises. One of them was to transform Varanasi or Kashi into a smart city like Kyoto. The “Kashi to Kyoto” was a catchy tagline. But, after more than two years, has anything changed for the city?
