First Phase of UP Elections Begins Today: Quick Facts

In the first phase of elections to the Uttar Pradesh State Assembly that begins today, polling will be held across 73 constituencies in western Uttar Pradesh.

Over 2.59 crore voters will decide the fate of around 839 candidates in the first phase. While the male electorate is pegged at 1.72 crore, female voters make up around 1.42 crore.

Meanwhile, 826 companies of central security forces have been stationed across the state for the first phase.
