The Delhi High Court on Monday rejected the parole plea of don-politician Mukhtar Ansari. Ansari will have to remain in jail and cannot take part in the campaigning for the elections.

The court pronounced its decision on the Election Commission’s plea for cancelling Mukhtar Ansari’s custody parole granted by a trial court.

Ansari joined the BSP recently and was given a ticket by Mayawati to contest from the Mau Assembly seat.

He is an accused in the murder of BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai in November 2005.
