Union minister Smriti Irani retweeted a post of a wedding invitation that went viral on social media asking guests to ‘vote for BJP in 2019 general elections’ as a gift to the bride and groom.

Would-be newlyweds Neha and Ashutosh Tripathi are from Rahul Gandhi’s constituency, Amethi, and this is what the invitation to their wedding says: “Your best gift to us will be voting forthe BJP in 2019 elections. We have resolved to send one ‘lotus’ from Amethi to Delhi – Vinayak Tiwari.”

Irani retweeted the invite saying, “Good wishes and blessings to the couple. Greetings and gratitude to the family. #PhirIsBaarModiSarkar.”

The tweet received over 10k likes and around 2.6k retweets.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi is likely to contest from Amethi, while it is not clear if Smriti Irani will be the BJP’s choice for the constituency.
