A clip of rival candidates Bobbeeta Sharma of the Congress and Queen Ojha of BJP is being shared widely on social media, in which they can be seen dancing together to a Bihu tune.

This comes as a refreshing incident, as parties trade barbs with each other and party leaders make underhand comments about other politicians.

The clip of Sharma and Ojha has several people from Assam appreciating the gesture, hailing their "good political culture", The Wire said.

Senior Congress leader Tarun Gogoi on Sunday said that that this was how it should always be. "Despite election campaigns, people cutting across political lines are here, enjoying Bihu. We are instead criticising each other in poll rallies. It should always be like this," he told NDTV.

This is the first time that the two women are challenging each other in a straight fight between the rival Congress and BJP for the Guwahati seat, The Wire reported.

"In Assam, we have an interesting culture where social life is more important. Thus we come here. It's not about politics, it's a public place and we are here to meet and greet people" said Sharma, reported NDTV.

“Through song and dance, we enjoyed with people and I also wanted people to see what I am as a real person not politician,” Ojha told NDTV about her reason to join in the festivities.

These sites are also opportunities for the Congress and BJP leaders to interact with voters.
