The election for the 200-member Rajasthan Assembly, scheduled to be held on Friday, 7 December, is largely being seen as a bipolar contest between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress.

The campaigning for the state ended on Wednesday, 5 December, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress President Rahul Gandhi making one last concerted attempt to win the contest for their parties.

During the 2013 elections, the BJP had won 163 seats, while the Congress bagged 21.

The Quint’s Senior Correspondent Maanvi spoke to Editorial Director Sanjay Pugalia, Senior Correspondents Shadab and Aishwarya, who visited Rajasthan ahead of the polls, Sanjay Kumar from Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS), and Rajan Mahan about the various factors that will play a role in the elections this year.
