Congress President Rahul Gandhi, who was on a two-day tour of Kerala on 16 and 17 April, launched a blistering attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying all that he does is “tell lies and steal from the poor people”.

The Congress president addressed three election rallies in Wayanad, the second constituency from where he is contesting apart from Amethi, and campaigned in Thirthala in Palakkad district.

Gandhi said the saffron party was only interested in imposing its ideology on the people of the country, adding that the issues of Kerala should be decided by the people of the state and not by Modi or the RSS chief.

He also met Sreedhanya Suresh – the first tribal woman from Kerala to clear the civil services exams.

Rahul to Start Campaign from Mavelikkara

Rahul will start his campaign in Kerala, in the Mavelikkara constituency in Alappuzha district on Tuesday morning, reported The News Minute.

After Mavelikkara, Rahul will campaign in Pathanapuram, Pathanamthitta and Thiruvananthapuram. Anto Antony, Shanimol Usman and Shashi Tharoor are respectively the candidates for the UDF in these constituencies.

Rahul Gandhi was addressing a rally in Alappuzha in Kerala when he attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making a deal with Malaysia concerning rubber business without consulting the traders of rubber in Kerala.

He said, "We promised a separate budget for farmers in our manifesto. This will tell upfront what we will do for the farmers of rubber industry."

Gandhi also said that the prime minister has reduced the budget in education. "This is shameful. We have decided to spend 6 percent of the GDP on education."

Congress chief Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday met Sreedhanya Suresh, the first tribal woman from Kerala to clear the all India civil services exams, and was all praise for her.

He met her at the guest house at Sulthan Bathery at Wayanad and had lunch with her.

Addressing an election rally in Thiruvammbady in Wayanad district, Gandhi said the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNAREGS), the Congress's pet project, had helped the 22-year-old woman make it to the civil services as her parents, who are workers, had benefited from the scheme.

Hailing from a poor background in Wayanad, Sreedhanya had bagged the 410th rank in the Civil Services Examination, 2018.
