Congress General Secretary for Eastern Uttar Pradesh Priyanka Gandhi on Friday evening helped airlift a two-and-a-half-year-old girl with a tumor from Uttar Pradesh to AIIMS in New Delhi.

The girl's parents had contacted Gandhi on Friday and expressed their inability to bear the cost of their daughter's treatment. She was previously admitted to Kamla Nehru Hospital in Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh.

Taking immediate action, Gandhi contacted senior party leaders Rajiv Shukla, Hardik Patel and Mohd Azharuddin and directed them to arrange for the child to be taken to AIIMS in New Delhi.

Shukla promptly made the arrangements and sent the child and her parents, Azharuddin and Patel to Delhi in his six-seater charter plane while he left for Delhi by train a little later.

Congress leader Jitendra Tiwari said that Gandhi has said that she will personally take care of the child's treatment at AIIMS.
