EVMs to be Stored in 90 Strong Rooms in Haryana After LS Polls
Ninety strong rooms have been set up at 30 locations in Haryana to store the EVMs and VVPAT machines safely after completion of voting in the ten Lok Sabha constituencies, State's Joint Chief Electoral Officer Inder Jeet said on Sunday, 12 May.
He said Central Armed Police Force personnel (CAPF) would be deputed outside, while CCTV cameras would keep an eye inside the strong rooms.
Pink Booths in Delhi to Encourage Female Voters
“Nari Shakti” was on display in the all-women staffed booths in Delhi Sunday which drew more women voters, especially from the Muslim community, officials said.
In a first for the city, as many as 17 all-woman staffed booths have been established for the Lok Sabha elections in the seven constituencies of Delhi, where from presiding officers to ground staff, all are women.
Incidentally, four of the seven district election officer-cum-returning officer are also women, and they too felt quite enthused to see the impact of the initiative.
Chandni Chowk Returning Officer Tanvi Garg said the Delhi CEO Office had envisioned this with a larger aim of engendering a sense of women empowerment and the "message has been sent".

Article 370 Will be Scrapped if Modi Comes to Power: Amit Shah in HP's Chamba
Addressing his first rally in Himachal Pradesh, at the Chogan Maidan in Chamba district, BJP president Amit Shah said that Article 370 would be scrapped if Narendra Modi will be re-elected as the prime minister.
Targeting the Congress on the issue of national security, he said the Manmohan Singh-led previous Congress government did nothing when Pakistan beheaded five India soldiers but under Modi rule airstrikes were carried out in Balakot.

Mayawati Shedding Crocodile Tears on Alwar Rape: PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday,12 May, mounted a scathing attack on BSP supremo Mayawati, accusing her of "shedding crocodile tears" over the gangrape incident in Rajasthan's Alwar.
He also demanded that her party withdraw support from the Congress government in that state if she is "serious", PTI reported.
In turn, Mayawati accused PM Modi of doing "dirty politics" over the gangrape of Dalit girl in Rajasthan's Alwar.
On 26 April, the victim was travelling with her husband on a motorcycle when the accused stopped them and took them to an isolated place off the road. They beat the husband and raped her in front of him, threatening them of dire consequences.
Cong Coined 'Hindu Terror' to Defame India's Religious Heritage: PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is rallying in Madhya Pradesh, accused the Congress of coining the term “Hindu terror” to defame the country’s religious heritage.
“The Congress and the mahamilavat (grand alliance) won’t be able to escape the repercussions of the conspiracy that they started with ‘Hindu terror’,” he said.

PM Sharing Info on Sensitive Defence Mission on TV a Violation: Yechury Writes to EC
CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury has written to the Election Commission against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allegedly violating the poll code by sharing operational details of a "sensitive" defence mission in a television interview to influence voters.
In his letter to the EC, Yechury has alleged Modi's statements were in clear and deliberate violation of the guidelines which were re-issued and reiterated by the Election Commission before the first round of polling, making it clear that the armed forces, which belong to all of India, cannot be a subject for hyperbolic and false claims by any party.
