Sukhram Chaudhary, Himachal Pradesh Power Minister tests positive for COVID-19, on Thursday, 6 August, reported ANI.

Senior CPI(M) leader Shyamal Chakraborty died of COVID-19 at a Kolkata hospital on Thursday, party sources informed PTI.

India on Thursday, 6 August, reported 56,282 new COVID-19 cases, taking the tally in the country to 19,64,537. The death toll increased by 904 to 40,699.

According to the Union Health Ministry data, there are currently 5,95,501 active cases across the country, while 13,28,336 patients have been cured or discharged.

  • The total number of samples tested for COVID-19 up till 5 August is 2,21,49,351, including 6,64,949 samples tested on Wednesday, the ICMR said

  • Andhra Pradesh also recorded over 10,000 cases on Wednesday, along with the biggest one-day spike in deaths

56,282 New COVID-19 Cases Take India’s Tally to 19.64 Lakh; 40,699 Deaths

India on Thursday reported 56,282 new COVID-19 cases, taking the tally in the country to 19,64,537. The death toll increased by 904 to 40,699.

According to the Union Health Ministry data, there are currently 5,95,501 active cases across the country, while 13,28,336 patients have been cured or discharged.

539 New COVID-19 Cases in Rajasthan, Tally Rises to 48,383

Rajasthan has reported 539 new COVID-19 cases, taking the tally in the state to 48,383, including 753 deaths.

1,699 New COVID-19 Cases in Odisha; Tally Rises to 40,717

Odisha has reported 1,699 new COVID-19 cases and 10 fatalities, taking the tally in the state to 40,717 and the death toll to 235.

Telangana Govt Decides to Conduct 40,000 COVID-19 Tests Daily

The Telangana government has decided to conduct 40,000 COVID-19 tests daily and keep 10,000 oxygen beds ready all over the state, PTI quoted an official release as saying on Thursday.

Centre Releases Second Instalment of COVID-19 Emergency Response and Health System Preparedness package

Centre has released Rs 890.32 crore as second instalment of COVID-19 Emergency Response and Health System Preparedness package to 22 states, Union Territories, informed Health Ministry, according to PTI.

India's COVID-19 Recovery Rate Climbs to 67.62%, More than 13.2 lakh Recoveries : Government

India’s COVID-19 Recovery Rate climbs to 67.62%, as total recoveries cross 13.2 lakh, informed the Government.

Case Fatality Rate (CFR) continues to slide, improves to 2.07%.

The Government, in a press statement said:

“The total recoveries of COVID-19 patients have jumped to 13,28,336 with 46,121 COVID-19 patients being discharged in the last 24 hours. With such consistent increase in recoveries, the gap between recovered patients and active COVID-19 cases has reached 7,32,835.”

1299 New COVID-19 Cases Reported in Delhi

1299 COVID-19 cases were reported in Delhi on Thursday, 6 August, according to the Delhi State Health Bulletin. 1,008 were reported to have recovered, been discharged or migrated.

15 deaths were also reported on Thursday.

Total number of active cases in Delhi, as of Thursday, stand at 10,348.

BS Yediyurappa Clinically Stable and Responding Well to Treatment: Dr Manish Rati

Dr Manish Rati, Director, Manipal Hospital, Bengaluru has informed that Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa continues to be clinically stable. Yediyurappa was admitted at the hospital after testing positive for COVID-19.

Dr Manish Rai, reportedly informed ANI:

“Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa, who was admitted to Manipal Hospitals on 2nd Aug, continues to be clinically stable & is responding well to treatment. He is cheerful & continues to attend to his activities from his room. (Sic)”

Sukhram Chaudhary, Himachal Pradesh Power Minister tested positive for COVID-19, on Thursday, 6 August, reported ANI. He took oath as state minister in Shimla on 30 July.
