India has recorded highest ever single day recoveries of 51,706 and recovery Rate has reached a record high of 67.19%, informed the government in a press release, on Wednesday, 5 August. Case Fatality Rate (CFR) has further dipped to 2.09%
India on Wednesday, 5 August, reported 52,509 new cases of COVID-19, taking the tally in the country to 19,08,255. The death toll increased by 857 to 39,795.
According to the Union Health Ministry data, there are currently 5,86,244 active cases across the country, while 12,82,215 patients have been discharged.

- Delhi reported 674 new cases, taking the tally in the national capital to 1,39,156

5175 Covid-19 cases reported in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday, 5 August, of which 1044 cases are from Chennai, informed the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
59,156 persons tested, 6031 patients discharged, 112 deaths reported on Wednesday.

1195 New COVID-19 Cases Reported in Kerala: CM Pinarayi Vijayan
1195 new COVID-19 positive cases and 971 recoveries were reported in Kerala on Wednesday, 5 August, informed Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, according to ANI. Total number of active cases in Kerala are presently at 11,167.
Seven deaths were also reported in the state.
2,816 COVID-19 Cases Reported in West Bengal
2,816 COVID-19 cases, 2,078 discharged and 61 deaths reported in West Bengal were reported on Wednesday, 5 August, State Health Department of West Bengal said, according to ANI. Total number of cases in the state is now at 83,800, including 58,962 discharged, 22,992 active cases and 1,846 deaths
Delhi CM Convenes Meeting, Gives Hospital Wise Recommendations for Procedures and Protocols
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday convened a meeting with the committees which were constituted in July to inspect the 10 hospitals (government and private) in the city with the highest mortality rate, and give hospital-wise recommendations on following standard operating procedures and protocols.
According to a Delhi Government press release, each of the four committees submitted their reports and presented recommendations to CM Arvind Kejriwal, to induce measures for the betterment of COVID patient care services and reducing mortality of COVID patients in the hospitals.
