In the aftermath of Harvey Weinstein’s alleged sexual harassment and assault of various women, reports were also circulating about Amazon’s programming chief, Roy Price. Price has now resigned, according to a company spokeswoman. He took a leave of absence last week and Albert Cheng, the studio's chief operating officer, remains interim head of the division.
Isa Hackett, executive producer of series such as Amazon’s The Man in the High Castle and the upcoming anthology series, Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams, claimed that Price propositioned her in a cab at a promotional event once.
According to Hollywood Reporter, Hackett said:
Hackett recounted that Price was quite insistent in his proposition to her. “You will love my dick,” he said, according to Hackett, who relayed her account to multiple individuals in the hours after the alleged episode. As a lesbian with a wife and children, Hackett made it clear to Price that she wasn’t interested. She also reported the details of the incident to Amazon executives immediately.
The allegations incidentally, were followed by the #MeToo campaign on social media, where many women shared their experiences of mistreatment and sexual harassment.
