While launching attacks on RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan, little did Subramanian Swamy know (or imagine) that his remarks would be snubbed by none other than Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Ticking off Swamy, Modi had on Monday disapproved of any attempts to tarnish Rajan’s image and called him “no less patriotic than us”. In a veiled message to Swamy, he also said that the country cannot benefit from “such craving for publicity”.

Swamy’s retaliation to Modi was not a run-of-the-mill attack, but a rather philosophical statement, invoking the Gita. If Swamy thought his tweets were ambiguous, sorry to disappoint, but we know exactly who you are targeting.

He also re-tweeted a response to his above mentioned tweet, and the subtext is amply clear.

While the subtext might be palpable, he hasn’t been quite direct about his reaction to Modi’s attack on him.

On Tuesday, Swamy has been commenting on everything apart from the obvious elephant in the room, almost like the Modi attack on him never happened.

Also, with these tweets, is he displaying his knowledge of economics, or creating a social media portfolio to become, um, the next RBI Governor?

Swamy ji’s hurt pride was also at full display when on Tuesday he alleged that the media purposefully insults him. According to Zee News, when it approached Swamy to give them a statement, he refused to comment.

India Today went one step further and asked Swamy to talk on camera. Anybody following the trail of events wouldn’t be surprised by what happened next – Swamy ji left the spot.
