1. Brutal Rape and Murder of Minor Rocks Maharashtra
Ahead of the Nirbhaya verdict in the Supreme Court on Monday, another brutal case of rape shook Maharashtra.
A class nine student was raped, her body mutilated. She was murdered in Khopardi village in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra. Flesh from all over her body, including her genitals, were torn and her teeth were found to be broken.
Three arrests have been made in the case, while one suspect is absconding.
The case has already assumed political colour after reports of the girl belonging to the dominant Maratha case and the accused being Dalits have done the rounds.
The Opposition used the incident to attack chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, who, they said, as home minister failed to take cognizance of the incident.
One of the culprits was caught two days after the incident. Neither Fadnavis nor the minister of state for home or even the guardian minister has visited the victim’s family though it is three days since the incident.
2. Drug Trafficking Through Darknet, Bitcoin
In a first in India, anti-narcotics agencies have uncovered a drug racket in the country that uses the cryptic ‘darknet’ and the unregulated cryptocurrency Bitcoin.
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), the chief law enforcement agency that tackles cases of drug trafficking has detected two such syndicates operating in the country.

3. Minor Girl Dies After Being Raped in Muzaffarnagar
An eight-year-old girl, who was raped and bludgeoned with a stone in Muzaffarnagar’s Kidwai Nagar area, died during treatment at a hospital on Sunday.
The girl was playing outside her house when she was kidnapped by the accused, Tanzim, who was caught by locals and sent to jail.

4. 6-Year-Old Dies After Being Kicked By Senior
Six-year-old Mohammed Ibrahim, a class one student, died four days after he was bullied, kicked and brutally beaten up by a school senior in Hyderabad on 12 July.
Ibrahim, who suffered serious injuries, died in the hospital on Sunday.
Ibrahim’s father Abdul Mujeeb lodged a complaint with the police alleging negligence on part of school authorities.

5. Woman Arrested for Setting 12-Year-Old Maid on Fire
A woman, identified as Shampa Nag Nandi, was arrested on Sunday on charges of setting ablaze and killing a 12-year-old girl at Kanchannagar in South Tripura district.
The minor worked as a domestic help in Shampa’s house. She was admitted to a hospital with severe burn injuries. She succumbed to her injuries on Sunday.
Nandi was arrested from her residence on the basis of a complaint filed by the deceased victim’s uncle, Dipak Debnath.

6. Rape Survivor Allegedly Raped Again By Same Men
A 20-year-old Dalit woman was raped by five men in Haryana’s Rohtak area. The accused are allegedly the same men who raped her earlier in 2013.
The men, who are out on bail, ‘punished’ the woman for pursuing the case in court, according to the survivor’s family.

7. 24 Killed From Spurious Liquor In UP
24 people have died after consuming spurious liquor in Uttar Pradesh’s Etah and Farukhabad districts.
The incident took place on Friday, when several people from Luhari Darwaja and adjacent Laukhera village consumed spurious liquor and were taken ill.
The accused have been arrested and an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each has been promised to the families of deceased by the District Magistrate.

8. Ghaziabad Cops Caught Taking Bribe
A video footage showing some of the policemen posted at Ghaziabad’s Dasna district jail, accepting bribe from an aide of former BSP Rajya Sabha member Narendra Kashyap was released on Sunday.
Kashyap is an accused in the dowry death case of his daughter-in-law.
Jail Superintendent S P Yadav asserted that immediate action would be taken against the policemen.
Action will be taken against the guilty policemen after an inquiry. They will be suspended.

9. Man Detained for Assaulting Women in Mumbai Local
On Sunday, a man was arrested for assaulting two women and threatening the other with a knife inside the ladies compartment of a Central Railway local.
The women got him detained after raising an alarm at Sion station. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) said a case will be registered against him.
