The Food Supply Department collected samples of Patanjali ghee for testing in Haridwar on Monday late evening. This follows an order issued by the Uttarakhand Health Minister Surendra Singh Negi on December 10.

After complaints of the presence of fungus in a bottle of ghee, food security officials were asked to collect samples of the ghee to test.

“Two samples of Patanjali ghee has been taken for testing. Report will be given in 14 days,” said Mahimanand Joshi, district food inspector.

The order to examine two of Patanjali’s food products was issued after reports emerged of the alleged presence of insects being found in a packet of Patanjal Atta Noodles at Hisar in Haryana and fungus being found in a packet of Patanjali ghee in Haridwar.

Earlier in November, Patanjali instant noodles, launched by Baba Ramdev, had come under fire from the FSSAI for not having ‘safety approval’. But Ramdev slammed the ‘misleading information’ being spread, claiming he had the information to prove that thre had been no violations.
