1. CBI Arrests Two EPFO Officials For Accepting Bribe

The CBI arrested two Enforcement Officers working in the Office of Employees Provident Fund Organisation, Chandigarh for allegedly demanding and accepting an alleged bribe of Rs 2 lakh from a Mumbai based firm.

CBI said a case was registered under section 7 of the PC Act, 1988 on a complaint.

2. Ghaziabad: Teen Rescued from Kidnappers After Shootout in a School

A playschool on the outskirts of Delhi virtually turned into a war zone on Monday as a gun battle raged for 20 minutes between police and a group of kidnappers that was holding a teenager hostage.

The 13-year-old boy was rescued while the three abductors were arrested from the day nursery located in a posh residential part of Ghaziabad’s Raj Nagar area, a day after the child’s parents filed an FIR of kidnapping.

3. Police Team Seizes SIM Card After Arrest of Suspected ISI Agents

The Special Task Force (STF) of Kolkata Police has seized a mobile phone SIM card which it believes was used by the three suspected ISI agents, arrested earlier, to pass on information to Pakistan.

“They passed on information electronically and also through other means which could be manual. There can be others involved who acted as messengers,” a senior STF officer said.

4. Former SDM Convicted of Corruption in Chamba

A former Sub Divisional Magistrate has been convicted for accepting illegal gratification while in office, and was sentenced to three years imprisonment by a local court.

Special Judge, Chamba, Padam Singh convicted Raj Dev Singh Jasrotia, the then Sub Divisional magistrate (SDM) of Tissa, for accepting illegal gratification and sentenced him to three years imprisonment in two offences under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and criminal misconduct.

5. Sri Lankan Refugees Harassed by Rowdies, Seek Help

A group of Sri Lankan refugees on Monday sought the help of the district administration to protect them from alleged harassment and extortion from rowdies near their camp in Anaiyur, Madurai.

6. MLA’s House Looted in Assam

Unidentified people on Monday allegedly looted the house of AIUDF MLA Gopi Nath Das, who is currently in jail in connection with a rape case, in Kamrup Rural district, police said today.

7. Two Sentenced to 20 Years Imprisonment in 2013 Chakulia Gang Rape Case

Two people were sentenced to 20 years rigorous imprisonment by the district and sessions court in connection with a 2013 gangrape case in East Singhbhum district in Jamshedpur.

District and Sessions Judge I-cum-Special Judge (Women atrocities) Satyaprakash Sinha, who convicted Shashank Sekhar Bera and Swetbahan Bera two days ago, pronounced the quantum of sentence today under amended section 376(D) of the IPC, sentencing them to 20 years rigorous imprisonment for raping a married woman in Chakulia in Ghatsila sub-division on the intervening night of February 12 and 13, 2013.

8. FIve Held for Killing Man Over Property Feud

Saidabad police in Hyderabad on Monday arrested five people for murdering a former club owner. On Sunday night, the five stabbed R Srinivas alias Babu, 50, at Champapet when he was sitting in front of Malla Reddy Complex with his friends. Prime accused Subhash is the elder brother of Srinivas.

9. Debt-ridden Youth Robs More Than a Lakh to Meet Wedding Expenses

A 26-year-old, along with a friend robbed a chicken distribution agency to meet the mounting expenses for his wedding in Bengaluru.

On November 24, Firdos from Hoskote who distributes chicken to poultry shops, and Mohammad, 22, a resident of DJ Halli and a cleaner in a fish shop, barged into Kadakeshwara Poultry and assaulted two employees before fleeing with Rs 1,80,000.
