Years before the film came out, the investigation was a drama in itself. Talvar – the Bollywood film inspired by the double murder case of 14-year-old Aarushi Talwar and the family’s domestic help, Hemraj – recently received the Amul treatment as part of the brand’s topical ad campaign.

The ad hints that the film could change the discourse around the much-highlighted case, in which everyone from the media, police and the judicial system had insinuated that the family had loose morals. The ad plays on the word Talvar which also means ‘sword’ and asks, “Kya Talvar ki dhaar se dhaara badlegi?” (Will the sharp edge of the sword change the flow of the debate?)

The hard-hitting movie that stars Irrfan Khan and Konkona Sen Sharma was released on October 2, 2015, and has invited a lot of discussion.

Irrfan Khan has also tweeted the Amul ad.
