The special court of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has rejected the bail application of Sanjeev Khanna, one of the key accused in the Sheena Bora murder case, on Friday.
In a report published in the Deccan Chronicle, Shreyansh Mithare Khanna’s lawyer confirmed to ANI that his client’s bail application had been rejected.
After the high court allowed confessional statements to be shared with the other accused in the case, the CBI’s special court rejected the bail application of Sanjeev, Indrani’s ex-husband.
On Monday, Khanna had submitted a bail application on the grounds that the CBI had failed to prove that he was present with his ex-wife Indrani Mukherjea or that he had any motive to commit the crime.
The CBI had also alleged that Khanna conspired with Indrani to kill Sheena and protect the property of their biological daughter Vidhie.
Earlier, an accused in the case, Shyamvar Rai had offered support to the agencies when he turned approver telling the CBI that Sanjeev Khanna was also involved in murder of Sheena Bora.
Shamvar Rai, in his statement, had revealed to the CBI that he was driving the car in which Sheena’s mother Indrani Mukerjea and Sanjeev Khanna killed her.
