Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and 51 other Aam Aadmi Party MLAs were detained by the Delhi Police near Tughlaq Road on Sunday when they were on their way to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence to ‘surrender’.

Sisodia was accused by the president of the Ghazipur Vegetable Market Association of intimidating businessmen during his official visit to the area. In protest, Sisodia said he would march to the PM Modi’s residence and ‘surrender’ himself.

The MLAs were released in the afternoon, after being detained for a couple of hours.

Police had also arrested AAP MLA Dinesh Mohaniya on charges of molestation and sexual harassment on Saturday.

Earlier in the day, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal set the ball rolling by tweeting that a complaint had been filed against Manish Sisodia and that the latter would head to 7 Race Course Road to surrender himself before the Prime Minister.

We (AAP MLAs) all went together. If you (PM) want to do politics of sending us to jail then we will all come to you. Send us to jail together. At least the Delhi Police can nab the rapists. Which is why we went, but they detained us.
