Adarsh Sharma Arrested for Declaring Bounty on Kanhaiya Kumar

The Delhi Police arrested Adarsh Sharma on Monday for sticking posters announcing a bounty on Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union President Kanhaiya Kumar.

Delhi police sources tell The Quint that more sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) could be added after verifying the available evidence.

Sharma is accused of sticking posters in New Delhi announcing a reward of Rs 11 lakh for anyone who shoots Kanhaiya Kumar dead.

Sharma, who claimed to be the President of one Purvanchal Sena was questioned, before his arrest, by the Delhi police. He was questioned at a police station in New Delhi district, a senior police official confirmed.

On Saturday, the posters were seen stuck on a wall near Press Club of India, bus stops and metro stations in New Delhi district.

The poster said, “whosoever shoots JNU Students’ Union president Kanhaiya will be rewarded Rs 11 lakh on the behalf of Purvanchal Sena.”

The posters carried the mobile number and name of Adarsh Sharma. On the same day, the police registered a case of defacement of property in connection with the matter and questioned one person, who was allegedly involved in sticking the posters on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday.
