With the prevailing law and order situation in parts of the country, one would imagine that police officers would be on duty keeping a check on their local crime rates instead of spending time online aiming sly tweets at actors. The actor in question here is the very vocal Swara Bhasker and the police officer is Vipul Aggarwal. And it all began when Swara tweeted about the recent lynching of Tabrez Ansari in Jharkhand.
Swara tweeted about the lynching and the candle light vigil that was held for Tabrez Ansari in Delhi on 26 June.
Swara’s tweet seems to have irked Vipul Aggarwal who responded to the actor’s tweet by saying that her “swar comes out pretty selectively”. IPS officer Vipul Aggarwal serves as the Additional Commissioner of Reforms with the Ahmedabad Police currently.
This incidentally is not the first time that Vipul Aggarwal has targeted Swara. As a pointed out by @Joydas, the IPS officer had on an occasion earlier tweeted to Swara asking for her “swar” on a news report, which he later deleted.
The outspoken Swara was quick to respond to Aggarwal stating that her being selective doesn’t harm anyone but his being selective “damages the very fabric of our nation and leads to horrors like Tabrez Ansari”. The actor didn’t stop at that and went on to ask the police officer to do his job instead of incessantly trolling her.
Swara’s response to Aggarwal found support among Twitterati who backed her against the IPS officer.
Swara was last seen in the film Veere Di Wedding produced by Balaji with Kareena Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor, which released in 2018. This is not the first time that Swara has effectively used social media to put her point across. We wish there were more actors like her who speak truth to power.
