Unlike Baar Baar Dekho, where the trailer tells all and leaves little to the imagination, the trailer for Shivaay, released today, is well done. An action-packed thriller for those who love Bollywood’s good ol’ dishoom-dishoom repackaged with very high production value, the movie sees grand sets and grander heroics by Devgn.
Truth be told, there is a good chance that only the trailer of the film is good: it takes the most graphic, adrenaline-raising shots and puts it to music with a rising crescendo and reverberating poetry. It doesn’t tell much (or anything) about the events of the story, and yet it manages to intrigue enough, just like a trailer ought to. However, the mismatch between the snowy high-altitude mountaineering and the ensuing action with simply richer and whiter-than-regular villains of movies is jarring, at best. Why Devgn and his love interest dine and sleep together on top of a mountain is inexplicable, when he clearly has a whole other life on- well, the plains. And the family Devgn seeks to protect by turning into a “mean destroyer”? They hardly feature; the movie is about Devgn all the way.
That being said, if you love Bollywood action movies and/or Ajay Devgn and would love to see what the two look like on top of a several-thousand feet high mountain, check out the trailer below:
