The MTV Video Music Awards 2015 have been the talk of the town. Why? Here are six reasons why we just can’t stop talking about it!
7. Red Carpet Action: Best Dressed
Selena might have walked the red carpet with Taylor Swift’s squad, but the singer was a stunner on her own, in a black metallic knit long sleeve dress.
The make up, the shoes and the exposed midriff is classic Taylor. You nailed it girl!
Nicki rocked the red carpet in this sheer gold dress showing off her curves and a lot more!
If looks could kill, we would surely be dead. Actress Cara Delevingne, who was also Swift‘s crew member, rocked the red carpet in a silver star-print mini dress.

This silver-strapped chandelier inspired ensemble was just the first of Miley’s many shocking outfits for the night. Sorry not impressed!
Now these two were way too under dressed for the occasion. Kimi, you could have done better. Brown ain’t your colour!
Too skimpy for our liking. Britney Spears walked the VMA red carpet in a silver and gold cutout dress. Even the multi-coloured hair didn’t help.
Amber Rose and her BFF Blac Chyna shocked the VMA red carpet with matching bright graffiti outfits, with pretty much every derogatory word that can be used for a woman, splashed across. Like, Really?
Justin, what’s with the hair bro? Having a bad hair day, were you?
5. Taylor Swift’s Squad
It was girls’ night out at the VMAs this year, as Taylor Swift chucked her boyfriend to get her girl squad to the awards night. Now that’s one famous girl gang, including models and actresses Gigi Hadid, Martha Hunt, Hailee Steinfeld, Cara Delevingne, Taylor’s BFF Selena Gomez, Swift, Serayah, Mariska Hargitay, Lily Aldridge, and Karlie Kloss.
These girls where at their candid best on the red carpet. And they were having the time of their life!
Taylor’s friends cheered for her as she won ‘Video Of The Year’ award for Bad Blood. The girls even joined her on stage!
4. Nicki Minaj Opens the VMAs
No one can do this like Nicki. She opened the show dressed like a carnival queen, covered in feathers. The rapper performed to the popular track Trini Dem Girls.
But hold on, that wasn’t all that made news. Nicki Minaj was joined by Taylor Swift on stage and they performed to the immensely popular number The Night is Still Young.
Just weeks after her feud with Taylor Swift blew up on Twitter, Nicki invited Taylor on stage during her epic opening performance and proved to fans that they are getting along just fine. While Miley and Nicki continue having some bad blood after Miley’s mean comments on her in a recent interview.
Nicki called the award show host a ‘b*tch’ on stage, but Miley was just being Miley and brushed it off. Take a look at the video.
3. Justin Bieber the Cry Baby
Bieber’s comeback is in full swing, and that means it was time for a new, moody look. The Biebs delivered a spot-on performance of his summer hit, Where Are U Now, and his latest single, What Do You Mean, but by the end of it Beiber broke down.
2. Miley Cyrus’s Outrageous Outfits
Miley Cyrus hosted the 2015 VMAs and she tried to keep it interesting by changing her costume 11 times. First she arrived on the red carpet wearing essentially what dangles off chandeliers.
She kicked off the show in a multi coloured halter jumpsuit which thankfully had more pieces of clothing than the first one. But soon she was back to being herself.
A white cut-out dress with pom-pom details that strategically covered her nipples and down below. She paired it with white patent boots.
Then, she took the weirdness a notch higher with a crop top in the shape of eyes and a red skirt that looked like lips.
No wait, her next outfit literally made no sense. A vinyl see-through dress by Mamadoux, which she paired up with Versace white patent boots and the unmissable white sunglasses.
Afterwards the pop star swapped her transparent ensemble with...surprise!...another revealing, belly-baring look! Cyrus wore a custom Versace Medusa pink bra and metallic pink tuxedo pants, which matched he rosy ponytail.
And at one point during the night, Cyrus covered up in a custom Prada tinsel jacket. But, soon after, she took off the shiny outer wear to show off her bodysuit.
Think twice before you cringe at this one. A Prada rainbow board dress that Miley teamed up with bright platform heels. Steadily weird.
Later she appeared as a walking disco ball in a full-mirror look, again designed by Prada.
Cyrus brought the award show to a closing with a performance that was filled with pelvis thrusting to a song about smoking weed (naturally) in a colourful one-legged unitard, custom designed by BCALLA.
1. Kanye West Took the Cake!
Now this speech was 11mins long and has made headlines with it. It started off with former frenemy Taylor Swift presenting the Video Vanguard award to Kanye which was followed by 10 long mins of applause. What came next proved Kanye West was the man of the show, at the VMAs 2015.
He literally poured his heart out about everything from the infamous 2009 VMA Taylor Swift episode-
If I had a daughter at that time, would I have gone onstage and grabbed the mic from someone else? After that night, the stage was gone, but the effect that it had on people remained. The problem was the contradiction; I do fight for artists, but in that fight, I somehow was disrespectful to artists. I didn’t know how to say the right, perfect thing.

I still don’t understand award shows. I don’t understand how they get five people who work their entire life, won, sell records, sell concert tickets, to come, stand on a carpet and for the first time in their life, be judged on the chopping block and have the opportunity to be considered a loser.
