While the United Kingdom was grappling with the results of the EU referendum, US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump landed in Scotland and got a Scottish treatment for voicing his rather brazen opinion.

Trump told the Scottish people how he thought it was a great decision to leave the European Union and take “back control of their country”. What Trump didn’t realise is that Scotland had sided with the Remain camp.

The Scots let him have it on Twitter and how! Starting with the screenwriter for the famous Robin William movie Mrs. Doubtfire.

The comments on the Facebook post, however, is a different story.

While his critic David Cameron stepped down as the British Prime Minister, Trump enjoyed the opening of his golf course in Scotland’s Turnberry region.

He was greeted on Friday by a pair of bagpipers and dozens of resort staff members wearing “Make Turnberry Great Again” hats.

Clinton-Trump War Reaches Scotland

Due to his own fault, Trump’s first international trip since sealing sufficient delegate support to be the GOP standard-bearer, fell flat. His rival and Democratic presidential candidate Hilary Clinton’s campaign did not fail to point it out.

Donald Trump actively rooted for this outcome and he is rooting for the economic turmoil in its wake. He said that a falling British pound is good for his golf business. He actually said that. He actually put his golf business ahead of the interests of working families in the United States.

The timing of the trip has raised eyebrows among fellow Republicans as it comes during a rough patch in his campaign.

Outgoing President Barack Obama had traveled to London in April on Cameron’s request, who he calls a friend, exhorting Britons to stay in the EU.
