There’s another Mithun Chakraborthy in Calcutta, and he is himself quite the charismatic artist. Mithun da will sketch you a portrait in 10 minutes flat, but it is his stories that will regale you.
He has been sketching people for money for over two decades in the iconic Nandan complex, the city’s centre of art and culture.
He has drawn everyone from Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and Jyoti Basu to the current Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee
And yes, he has a favourite, but it took some coaxing to get it out of him.
