Now, while 2011 World Champions India are already assured a spot in the ‘mini World Cup’ next year, Bangladesh are bang in the middle of a dash to the finish with West Indies.
Mortaza’s 2015 World Cup quarter-finalists are currently level with the Caribbean nation on 88 points in the ICC ODI standings, while Pakistan are a point behind in ninth spot.
This is where things get interesting.
Since only eight countries get to play in the tournament, Bangladesh need to win two of their upcoming six matches before the September 30 deadline to ensure they take the “next step” that their skipper is so keen on. However, these six matches are to be played against India and South Africa.
Easier said than done, huh?
