PM Modi Launches Digital India Initiative

PM Narendra Modi launched the Digital India campaign, aims at creating a digitally empowered society and economy.

PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the Digital India programme, an Indian government initiative aimed at last mile digital connectivity across the nation. The project seeks to provide broadband internet to all gram panchayats, promote mobile governance and transform India as a connected knowledge economy.

The Project focuses on three objectives — infrastructure as a utility for every citizen, governance and services on demand, and digital empowerment of citizens.

Once put into place, Digital India will connect 250,000 gram panchayats through fibre optics, so that citizens can have direct access to all government services.

PM Modi has a vision to provide all citizens with a smartphone by 2019. Thorough digitisation will enable essential services like health and banking.

Several business honchos came forward to support the Prime Minister’s vision for Digital India, including Mukesh Ambani, Anil Ambani, Sunil Bharti Mittal, Azim Premji, Kumar Mangalam Birla among several others.

· Industry moves faster than government but with Digital India, I have no hesitation in saying, the government has moved faster.

· Reliance will invest 250 crores across the Digital India pillars.

· Digital India will be a huge success. It empowers the youth to fulfil their aspirations.

· This will create employment for over 5 lakh people.

Several other industrialists too pledged support and investment in the the Digital India initiative.

· Three main points that will take Digital India forward are strong infrastructure utility, providing governance and service in real time, and digitally empowering citizens.

· India has all the ingredients to become a global driver in worldwide technological development.,

· I commit Tata Group’s wholehearted participation.

· Tata Group will hire 60,000 IT professionals this year.

-Digital India will ensure that a collective Rs 4.5 lakh crore will be invested and 18 lakh jobs will be created.

-More than 25 crore people are using the Internet in India today, but number of people not yet within the internet’s reach is far greater.

-We plan to merge E-governance and M-governance. M-governance stands for ‘Mobile governance’ and E stands for economically easy governance.

-Want India to ensure to reduce dependence on e-imports and launch Indian-made electronics and products.

-The day is not far when we can transfer our documents into a digital godown.

-I dream of a digital India where high speed digital highways unite the nation.
