Veteran Bollywood actor Hema Malini and BJP MP from Mathura met with an accident in Dausa, Rajasthan, on Thursday evening.
The actor suffered facial injuries as the Mercedes she was travelling crashed into a Maruti Alto. Initial reports say a five-year-old girl, who was travelling in the car with four others, has been killed. The rest of the family are critically injured and is under observation at the nearby SMS Hospital in Jaipur.
The police have arrested her driver after the Alto’s driver filed an FIR against him.
The injured are Harsh, Chinni, Saumil and Shikhar Chowdhary.
The actor was taken to Fortis Hospital where she was subjected to a CT scan. TV footage showed Malini bleeding on the forehead above the right eye.
She underwent operation till 3:30 am on Friday. A cosmetic surgeon at the hospital helped her with facial and nasal injuries.
While it was earlier being claimed that the Alto was coming from the wrong side of the road, new reports indicate that Hema Malini’s Mercedes was over-speeding, which led to the accident.
