The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has found itself in hot water after a letter written by the International Cricket Council (ICC ) has complained to the board about its Secretary - Anurag Thakur - of being close to an alleged bookie, Karan Gilhotra, news channel CNN-IBN reports.

In its harsh letter to the BCCI, the ICC claims that it got the information with the help of an unidentified journalist, including pictures showing Anurag warming up to Karan Gilhotra, the alleged bookie.

Gilhotra’s name also appears on the latest ICC anti-corruption and security unit (ACSU) database.

The ICC letter states that in the photographs in its possession, Karan Gilhotra , is seen offering a cake to the newly selected board secretary in Chandigarh a few days after BCCI elections took place on March 2, 2015, where Anurag was elected as BCCI secretary.

ASCU director, Ravi Sawani, had already written to all IPL franchises warning them not to associate in anyway with Karan Gillhotra.

Meanwhile, Hindustan Times reports that ICC Chief Srinivasan himself could face questions over allegations that he, while heading the BCCI, hired a private British security agency to spy on senior board officials.

I cannot explain this unreasonable allegation that I am responsible for employing a detective agency to snoop. Since the time I have been out of the BCCI, I have had nothing to do with the day-to-day affairs of the board. If at all there is any such thing, then the office-bearers of the BCCI who were in control of the board and its decisions should be asked about that.
- N Srinivasan to Hindustan Times.
